Supported Volunteering Scheme

Supported Volunteering Scheme

Do you need a little extra help or support to find the right volunteering vacancy? The Supported Volunteering Scheme has been set up to encourage people to volunteer.

Given the right support, could YOU Volunteer?

If you have a physical disability, a mental health problem, learning disability, are an ex-offender or any other issue that might create a barrier to finding voluntary work, please get in touch with Peter d'Agostino, Supported Volunteering Co-ordinator on 02392 604686 or e-mail: vol.support@gva.org.uk

Why not enrol on our FREE Preparation for Volunteering course starting May 2012?

When? Course starts on Wednesday 16th May, 11am – 1.15pm for an 8 week certificated course.

Prior to the main course, there will be a Taster Session on Monday 14th May at 11.00am, for 40mins only when all your questions will be answered and any apprehensions addressed. (Free coffee and biscuits!)

To reserve a place or to find out more, contact Peter d’Agostino on 02392 604686 (Monday or Wednesday mornings) or e-mail vol.support@gva.org.uk

The course is a helpful way to learn new skills, meet new people, gain confidence and help you to find out more about the right voluntary work for you. Courses are always friendly and informal and can lead to an NCFE Level 1 qualification. They take place at Martin Snape House, 96 Pavilion Way, Gosport. Please call Peter for more information.

Give, Gain & Grow Volunteer Group

Give, Gain & Grow Volunteers The Give, Gain and Grow Volunteers project is a relatively new initiative from Gosport Voluntary Action that has been formed to encourage group volunteering opportunities for people lacking confidence due to mental health issues or as a result of physical disabilities.

The club are always on the lookout for new members and promise to be welcoming and non-judgmental.

The club meets on Friday mornings between 10am - 12pm at Martin Snape House, 96 Pavilion Way, Gosport. Travel expenses can be paid.

If you or someone you know have mental health difficulties, you can get involved in several ways:

It's already been a huge success, just look at these quotes from our clients:

"It's just good to have some people to share things with in an environment where I'm not being judged."

"It's really great to know that there are others out there in the same position as me and work together as a team."

"Volunteering here has started to give me the confidence to go out and look for work myself."

"I'm very bad at sticking to things once I start but this is one thing I feel really keen to carry on with."
